ANCHORED!
A new series will begin on January 18th titled, “Anchored.” An anchor is an essential device that secures a ship to the bottom of a body of water to prevent it from drifting due to the wind/current. It brings stability in the midst of storms/rough waters. An anchor is a symbol of stability/strength in the midst of chaos.
God has given us an anchor to see us through the storms of rough waters of life so we might not be swept away by the winds/currents of life—DOCTRINE. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching (doctrine) rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Doctrine refers to indispensable teachings/truths that define, describe, and delineate our faith. It’s the truths upon which we build our beliefs/practices. Without sound doctrine, our lives will be set adrift and we will find ourselves indulging/believing in all kinds of religious lies and cultural affections that will lead us away/astray from God. Let’s remember what Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” May God bless our new study! The following sermons will be in this series:
